Barbara West

Born in Connecticut in 1957, Barbara graduated from The University of Connecticut with a B.A. in English in 1979.  After moving to Seattle in 1982, she earned a law degree from Seattle University in 1989. Barbara has worked as an elder attorney and estate planner in the Seattle area since 1997. She is a shareholder at Inslee, Best, Doezie & Ryder, P.S., in Bellevue, Washington.

In October 2017 she co-authored, 'When I Need Your Help, I’ll Let You Know and Other Senior Myths That Can Lead to Disaster' with her father, Stephen F. Adler, available at Amazon. The book seeks to help caregivers understand the reasons why people are so reluctant to be proactive in their planning and offers practical tips and resources to assist seniors.

In 2019, Barbara established the non-profit corporation, Planning Matters. Barbara is a frequent lecturer to groups on issues involving estate planning, guardianship, elder law and the rights of persons with diminished capacity. A single mother of two adult children, Barbara enjoys gardening, playing ukulele and acoustic guitar.
