Photography Basics: Techniques and Art

Have you been using your digital DSLR or digital mirrorless camera on automatic but now would like to learn about using its full creative potential? This introductory color class will cover the basics of camera operation: f-stops, shutter speeds, iso, white balance, lenses, exposure, metering, filters, flash and more. Bring your digital DSLR or digital mirrorless camera that can be put fully on manual to class (no point and shoot cameras; contact instructor if unsure). A tripod is recommended. Class includes two Sunday afternoon field trips (details given in class). Instructor’s work has appeared in National Geographic publications. Text is ‘Bryan Peterson’s Understanding Photography Field Trip’ by Bryan Peterson. ISBN: 978-0-8174-3225-6. Students who take this class are invited to participate in our Summer CE Student Art Show. Loved this class and the combination of lessons and reviewing student work. The field trips were a great experience as well.
